Jelly belly is a hot melt jelly wax that melts at relatively low temperature and can be coloured with regular oil paint and powder pigments. Jelly belly can be used to make prop organs, fatty tissues and flesh that can be easily cut and sliced.
A great trick is to melt jelly belly in a double boiler and, while liquid, drizzle it carefully in to a bucket of cold water. The result will be terrific organic shapes and forms for making organs, guts and stringy gore.
– Medium tear strength, great for ripping flesh effects.
– Water clear so can also be used for creating interesting ice effects.
– Doesn’t melt on a direct heat. Use a double boiler when possible and start with a low temperature.
